I am very excited to announce that BBC Radio 4 will shortly be broadcasting a show I co-presented with the wonderful Timandra Harkness. The programme explores some of the effects of modern technology on the brain.
Timandra and I recently spent some time in London learning about about the brain, the impact of navigation techniques on it, and putting our own to the test.
In my book, The Knowledge Train Your Brain Like a Cabbie, I explain the gruelling memory process that London cabbies must complete in order to learn the city’s roads and obtain their licence. In addition, you can learn the brain training techniques I used to complete it.
Listen to What Has Sat-Nav Done to Our Brains? at 11am on 17 December 2019 on BBC Radio 4 .
I am pleased to report that I have never used a satnav. I still have paper map-books!
Best wishes, Pete.
Well done Pete, I consider physical maps to be quite an art-from so it’s good to see them receiving some love!
